The artist has completed over 150 Still lifes subjects in his 36 year career, most which have never been shown publically. Still Life's are either studies to be used later in larger Surrealist works or/and are completed self-contained works themselves. They allow the artist to stay in touch with the veristic-realist aspects of Surrealism and 'dreamscapes'.
