Because even large views posted in digital image format of even much larger Oil paintings cannot possibly even begin to show the often intricate details of the finished works in the original, this page will allow the interested viewer to more closely examine details, techniques in oil, etc., and to give the serious viewer a portent of the actual completed works as they appear. Paradise Lost is a series of paintings from R.S. Beal partially influenced by Miltons (b.London,1608-d.1674) and his life work, the epic 'Paradise Lost'. Miltons work was completed in 1665 and published in 1667. Miltons pre-occupation with preserving individual liberty and his humanistic slant differentiate Paradise Lost from Dante's 'Divine Comedy'. The invocations and visual simile's make both epics ideal food for painters.
